  • Is a Labrador Retriever a Crossbred dog?
Labrador Retrievers are not a cross between a Labrador and a Golden Retriever; they are a distinct breed. The "Retriever" in their name indicates that they belong to the GUNDOG group, originally bred for retrieving game birds shot by the English aristocracy. Labrador Retrievers come in three recognized colours: black, yellow, and chocolate. The "Chocolates" may range from milk chocolate to dark chocolate in their colouring. The Labrador Retriever Standard is the official document describing the desirable appearance, traits and behaviours of a pure-bred Labrador.
  • How much does a Monnybrook Labrador Puppy cost?
Do not let the cost of a puppy affect your decision to buy before you consider what is involved in buying from a Dogs Australia (ANKC) Responsible Breeder who adheres to the Federal and State Legislation such as The Animal Welfare Code of Practice for Breeding Dogs (2023) and Queensland Animal Welfare Standards and Guidelines for Breeding Dogs and their Progeny (2018) when breeding their dogs and raising their puppies. As ethical breeders, we spend much time and money looking after our dogs' health. In addition to the usual vet checks, worming, and flea prevention, we invest heavily in DNA testing of our breeding dogs to ensure no genetic flaws are carried over into our breeding lines. Genetic issues such as progressive retinal atrophy (PRA), a collection of genetic diseases that can cause blindness, are just one of many conditions. Vet checks also include hip and elbow scoring, which helps to provide a relatively good indication of future hip dysplasia. However, other factors like diet and exercise may also contribute. Veterinary Specialists from the Reproduction Team at Queensland Veterinary Specialists in Stafford,Brisbane are used throughout the breeding process. The above actions enable us to provide better outcomes for your pup's well-being.
