Having these wonderful dogs in our family has increased our fondness for Labrador Retrievers. They have brought us friendship and have helped us stay grounded during our nursing careers.

Manark Brown Velvet (ADRI), also known as NUGGY, is our little chocolate cuddle bear.

Fortunately, she boasts healthy hips and elbows and a healthy genetic makeup, without any of the typical Labrador health problems.

Nuggy’s gentle nature makes her a pleasure to have nearby. She lovingly keeps tabs on everyone, and that includes her feathered friends, who are also part of our family.

Her affection for water is evident as she joins me in the surf frequently, and she is able to showcase her impressive swimming and lifesaving abilities.

Nuggy also has a particular fondness for retrieving things and has a talent for sniffing out and finding treats.

ARI is the son of ADRI and CADDY from their first litter in 2024. He is a stunner who has people stopping us in the street to comment about how good-looking he is.

His name is from the Hindu term ARI, which translates to Brave Lion. Traditionally, the lion is viewed as a symbol of leadership within a pride, and he has become the protector of his "ladies"

We expect lots of fun with ARI and our other Labradors, So we gave him the pedigree name of Monnybrook Mighty Reign.

ARI "talks" and is developing a cheeky side to his sweet temperament, which he shows each night as he lies at our feet. He also looks so cute when lying on his back with his legs in the air.

Makara _ the "matron" incharge at Monnybrook Labradors

The Sanskrit name MAKARA perfectly encapsulates a Lab's characteristics, translating to a half-land and half-water creature.

Unfortunately, Makara was diagnosed with Osteochondritis Dissecans in both hocks early in her life, which led to her being removed from breeding; she instead became the Matron, supervising all activities at Monnybrook Labradors.

OUR RAINBOW GIRLS

Our yellow and black Labs, Treble and Wrexie, have sadly passed away. Although Treble lived for 13.5 years, Wrexie, who had a mast cell tumour and a six-month prognosis, lived for 15.5 years.

When the Grand Dame of Monnybrook Labradors turned 18 months old, she was diagnosed with Osteochondritis Dissecans (OCD) in both hocks, which led to her medical retirement. It was clear that breeding with Mackie would not be responsible in light of this diagnosis, and so her hopes of becoming a mother were dashed.

Eventually, a new era began for Monnybrook Labradors with the arrival of Adri, and now Mackie oversees the activity around Miss Adri's whelping box.
